If
you would like to take medal exams in any dance (Salsa, Bachata,
Argentine Tango, Cha Cha, Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, or any of the other Latin American or Ballroom
dances we teach) we can help you do so. You can take exams at three levels
(bronze, silver and gold).
The
medal programme from UKA allows you to learn within a structure that allows you
to measure your own progress against a progressive series of goals and against
national standards. Participation in this programme allows you to learn
core techniques and to progress at your own pace.
You
are required to perform a routine containing specific figures and moves.
We will prepare a routine for each dance at each level and our instructors will
be available to partner you during your examination. You will receive a
grading and comments from the examiner and successful students will receive a
Certificate of Achievement and a medal, trophy or wall-plaque - depending on the
level of achievement.
Why do exams?
Exams provide a concrete goal allowing learning to become more structured and
focused
The syllabus routines will help you master essential techniques for a wide
variety of dance figures
The examination itself can be a thrilling
experience
At the end of the process
successful students will receive a medal - tangible
proof that you have attained an objective level of skill
You will receive the full support of your instructors and with proper preparation,
students are nearly always successful
Our next
examination day will be on 26th November 2011
What
happens now?
Let
us know which dance or dances you wish to be examined in
We
will provide you with access to a video of the routine
You
can then learn and practice the routine either in our group lessons or by
organising private tuition
Tom
will undertake an assessment of your dancing and provide
any tuition required either in groups or individually to help you with the exam
What
does it cost?
It
costs £25 for each exam. Private
lessons by arrangement.
